Jefferson State is the largest community college in Alabama, with over 150 programs. The majority of our students attend for a year or two and then transfer to a university, but we also have a wide range of technical programs available. Indeed, we train more, first-time registered nurses than any other institution in Alabama. We also have a wide selection of dual enrollment options.

Jefferson State’s Dual Enrollment program offers eligible high school students the opportunity to receive both high school and college credit for college-level courses taken at their high school, online, or on a JSCC campus. Students can save time and money and get a jump on college. The application process is easy, and scholarships are available. Jefferson State prides itself on providing accessible, economical education of the highest caliber. Jefferson State serves approximately 15,000 students each year and is one of the largest community colleges in the state. We currently offer more than 120 university transfer programs, 33 career programs and numerous certificate programs at our four campuses in Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Chilton counties. In addition to these campuses, we have an extensive online presence to allow flexible learning from any location.
